Hand over your first responsibility.
Start with one job you would be glad to stop doing yourself.
Install Omni on your Mac.
Download Omni for Mac, open the disk image, and drag Omni onto the Applications folder shown next to it. Then open Omni from Applications.
Omni requires macOS 15 or later. The download includes Apple silicon and Intel support. The app is signed and notarized; macOS may ask you to confirm opening an app downloaded from the internet.
Connect your account.
Omni connects to Codex, Claude, or both. Follow Omni’s setup to sign in. If you already use Codex or Claude Code on this Mac, Omni can use that sign-in. Otherwise, complete the sign-in flow with a ChatGPT account that includes Codex access, or with your Claude account.
Wait until Omni shows that an agent is connected before sending your first message. Models, features, and usage limits come from that account. Each bot chooses its agent in its settings.
Give your bot a job.
Click the plus button and choose Create a bot. Give it a name and appearance, then choose Codex or Claude and a model. Click Create bot to finish. Its first conversation is where you agree on the work.
Try: “Help me stay on top of customer feedback. Every weekday, review the feedback files in my project, group recurring problems, and draft replies for me to review. Ask me where the files are first.”
Your bot should clarify the information it needs, do a first pass, and confirm any recurring task it has actually created. Review that first result together. Tell it what to change and what decisions it should leave to you.
You can adjust its instructions and model settings by selecting the bot’s name. A role does not automatically grant access to your tools or permission to send messages.
Connect your iPhone.
The iPhone app is distributed through TestFlight. If you already have an invitation, install Omni from TestFlight. Check public beta availability.
- On your Mac, open Omni’s settings and choose the option to pair your iPhone.
- On your iPhone, open Omni and scan the code shown on your Mac.
- Wait for the connection to complete, then open a conversation.
Once paired, the phone can connect over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Your Mac must remain awake, online, and running Omni. You don’t need port forwarding or to stay on the same Wi-Fi network.
Make it yours.
Tap a bot’s name to open its settings. Folder, agent, model controls, autonomy, instructions, skills, and memory are kept together. A bot can work in Omni’s own folder or in a folder you choose, such as a repository, and its autonomy level decides how much it does without asking: Ask stops for you, Auto lets the agent’s own reviewer decide, Full never asks. Available controls depend on the connected agent and account.
Instructions and skills come from the native Codex setup on your Mac. Memory may be shared across Codex chats on that Mac, so review what’s shown before treating it as specific to one bot.
Keep Omni up to date.
Omni checks for updates automatically. When one is available, a small blue download circle appears beside your account at the bottom of the sidebar. Click it to download, then choose Restart to Update when you’re ready. You can also use Omni → Check for Updates.
If you have build 19 or earlier, download this version once, quit Omni, and replace the app in Applications to get the new updater. Your stored conversations and settings are kept.
Give your bot a job.
On Mac, open your bot’s side panel and choose Jobs. On iPhone, open Jobs in the bot’s settings. Describe what it should take care of, choose when it repeats, and save. You can also ask in chat: “Every weekday, check new feedback and group duplicate bug reports.”
Edit the work or timing directly, run it now, pause it, and see recent runs. Results stay in the original conversation. Settings > Jobs shows the whole team’s work.
Your Mac needs to be awake with Omni open. In each job, “When you’re away” controls how approval requests are handled. Tasks managed by other apps are listed separately.
If something doesn’t connect.
- “Sending to Mac” stays on screen: make sure your Mac is awake, online, and Omni is open. Check the connection status in settings on both devices.
- No reply: verify the bot’s agent (Codex or Claude) is signed in and your account has available usage. Read any error shown in the conversation.
- Pairing fails: generate a fresh code on the Mac and scan it again. Do not share the code with support.
- TestFlight says the beta is unavailable: public access may still be awaiting Apple review. Existing internal invitations are separate.
Still stuck? Contact support with your app version and the error you see.
